With appeal to children of all ages, “The Gruffalo” features wily characters and timeless themes brought stunningly to life through a mixture of animation techniques including stop motion and CGI. “The Gruffalo” is the story of a plucky mouse who takes a walk in the woods to find a nut. Surrounded by the brilliant sights and sounds of the forest, Mouse must use his wits to scare off a series of hungry predators who think he’d make a fine meal. In this classic tale, even the fiercest denizens of the woods are no match for the brave and clever little mouse.
“The Gruffalo” aired on ABC Family in December 2010 and is scheduled to be re-broadcast on ABC Family during the 2011 holiday season. Also nominated for a BAFTA, the film was directed by Jakob Schuh and Max Lang and produced by Michael Rose and Martin Pope.
NCircle Entertainment has acquired US DVD distribution rights to “The Gruffalo,” a 2011 Academy Award nominee for best animated short film, narrated by Helena Bonham Carter (best supporting actress Oscar nominee for “The King’s Speech”). An enchanting tale about courage, wit and determination, “The Gruffalo” is voiced by a who’s who of British character actors including Tom Wilkinson, John Hurt and Robbie Coltrane in the title role. The film is based on the internationally beloved children’s book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Alex Scheffler that has sold nearly five million copies worldwide.
NCircle released the DVD on August 16 for a suggested retail price of $9.99. Bonus content includes a photo gallery and a “making of” documentary. The total running time is only 40 minutes. *perfect for squirmy little ones*
