Beauty: Julie Bowen’s Red Carpet Look

Did you catch Emmy Nominee and Neutrogena Brand Ambassador Julie Bowen’s classic look on the red carpet last night?

The minimal look is one of the season’s hottest beauty trends. Follow celebrity Makeup Artist Heather Currie’s tips to replicate this “must-have” look:

Julie Bowen’s Red Carpet Look

The inspiration for Julie Bowen’s cosmetic look was the light pink trumpet-style Zac Posen gown she wore to the 2013 Emmy Awards. A big trend on the red carpet for the 2013 Emmy Awards was the continuation of the minimal makeup trend, including Nominee Julie Bowen’s clean yet classic cosmetic look.

Make-up Artist Heather Currie highlighted Julie’s flawless and healthy skin by accentuating her natural flush and glowing skin. This healthy girl-next-door glow was created by using the same color family on her cheeks and lips as her dress and then focusing on her eyes and lips as primary pops of color.

FACE:
We started with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Primer to even and brighten the skin, while extending the wear of Julie’s makeup – an essential step for such an important day. Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup in Fresh Beige was then applied to the entire face for a fresh and natural glow. Neutrogena Healthy Skin Brightening Eye Perfector in Light and Neutrogena 3-in-1 Concealer were blended thoroughly and applied under the eyes to conceal the delicate skin. To finish, a little dusting of Neutrogena Shine Control Powder set the look and let her natural glow shine through, while eliminating shine throughout the evening.

EYES:
Using Neutrogena Crease Proof Eye Shadow in Constant Copper as a highlight on her cheek bone and around the eye area was a definite trick to making her eyes pop. Even though it says eye shadow, you can use on the cheek as a brow bone highlight also. Another tip to this look was two different eye liner colors as we didn’t want the traditional black rimmed eye. Using Neutrogena Nourishing Eye Liner in Brushed Pewter (a grey on top) for a subtle but effective look and Nourishing Eye Liner in Spiced Chocolate along the bottom lashes to make her eyes stand out really made all of the difference when it came to framing her eyes.

LIPS:
Using Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Berry Bright was key to giving a contemporary look and a pop of color to her face. We didn’t want her lips to be as pale as her dress but wanted to create a pop of color that would stand out.

CHEEKS:
Products that can multi-task is also my favorite trick, using a Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Fresh Papaya was key as a cream blush on her cheeks – this is also great for Fall’s color palette. I also highlighted Julie’s brow bone using Neutrogena Crease Proof Eye Shadow in Constant Copper for contrast.
