Family Halloween Ideas that are Easy to Pull Off

Where’s Waldo?

If you’re looking for a budget family friendly costume you can’t get any better than this. Where’s Waldo is probably one of the most well-known and recognized childhood books around. Admit it! You spent hours trying to find Waldo in all of his books.

Sometimes he would trick you and dress a bit differently to fit into places, but it was still fun and somewhat easy to find him. Either way, your family can be a bunch of “Waldos”. It’s easy to find some red and white pattern shirts and hats. Then you also have blue pants that are perfectly easy to find. It’s super easy to put together.

You’ll need a plain white t-shirt, a red snow cap, a piece of cardboard that can fit under your shirt (size of bottom of pizza box works), red & white paint (acrylic or fabric), brushes and sponges to paint with, green painters the, a pen, a ruler, and a pair of glasses.

First, what you’ll do is lay your shirt down on a flat surface and place the cardboard inside of the shirt; this is ensure that you do not leak paint onto the backside of your shirt. Next, take out your ruler and began to measure your stripes. You can measure as thick or thin as you want (Tip: Choose the width of your painter’s type for easier measurements); whichever you choose, remember to measure all the way up to the top of the shirt. Measure both sides of your shirt for symmetry. Make sure do this on both sides of your shirt on and both sides of the sleeve. Now, grab your painters tape and tape off the areas that you want to stay white. Now the fun part, begin painting the parts of the shirt that you have not taped off to form your red stripes. Once the front side dries, flip the shirt onto its other side and repeat.

While the other side of your shirt dries, you can start on your hat. Place a piece of tape where the had folds, and another piece of tape near the cone (or the top) of the hat. Next, use white paint to paint the space between the two pieces of tape. Flip your hat over and paint the other side (just like you did with the shirt). Finally, the most satisfying part, pull that tape off!

If you’re a family of four; this next costume to fit juuuuusssttt right..
