I have been searching for over a year for a vacuum/shampooer for my floors and area rugs because we have a lot of grout that was dirty when we bought the house (Yay for unsealed grout!). I began to use a power cleaner when I decided it was too daunting of a task since our WHOLE house is full of this tile with nasty grout. After no luck on finding anything that would easily do the job – and after refusing to pay a professional cleaner – I decided to get on my hands and knees and try different cleaning solutions and methods. While they were successful, the task was so tedious and physically demanding. I have lower back problems and it doesn’t take much to put me out.
Behold, the Bissell Crosswave! This beauty just recently came out and is EXACTLY what I have been looking for. It can vacuum and shampoo multiple surfaces! From rugs to hardwoods to tile, it is simply perfect.
The unit is easy to assemble and there aren’t a million parts for it. It comes with a cleaning solution that smells so fresh and clean once you use it.
As soon as I had it in my home, I had to use it immediately. I have been so eager to tackle these floors and freshen things up. Filling the water canister and putting it in place on the unit was very simple. Just click it in place and you are ready. You push the button on the handle for whatever you are cleaning, pull the trigger, give it time to prime, then go! The water and cleaning solution squirt down onto the cleaning brush and then it is suctioned into the dirty water canister so as to use a constant clean surface as you go. It is so easy. Cleanup is just as easy.
I noticed the effect immediately, even with the floors being wet. The brush couldn’t reach into the deeper parts of the grout (thanks to not-so-great tile work), but it was able to clean a larger part of it. I plan to go over it several times before adding in the extra cleaning by hand, but overall, the Bissell Crosswave is an excellent investment and is a very effective product that requires little effort on your part. It took me no time at all to clean several hundred square feet of my house and I honestly can’t wait to tackle the rest. The Bissell Crosswave makes the work easy so much that I don’t dread it. You can see in the photos below some before and after results as well as the dirty water that it suctioned back up.
You can see some of the areas that the bristles couldn’t reach, but I plan to go over it again before using another method.
Below, you can see the filthy water (I can’t believe I’m showing you this!) that it sucked out of my floors and a small part of my rug.
If you have hardwoods and area rugs, this device is a blessing! You must own one.
**I was given a Bissell Crosswave in exchange for the review, but as always, all opinions are my own.
