The peppers used to make the Reserve are literally hand-picked by the McIlhenny family and all of the peppers are grown on Avery Island, which has been the Louisianan home to Tabasco since it started in 1868.
These special peppers are mashed with a small amount of Avery Island salt (mined from the island’s salt mine) and are placed in white oak barrels and aged for approximately 8 years (regular red Tabasco is aged for 3 years)
This Family Reserve pepper mash is then blended with premium white wine vinegar (original sauce uses distilled high-grain natural vinegar)
This unique sauce is specially packaged with a green wax seal and a medallion certifying it’s authenticity! It looks fancy, ya’ll.
